Question

Like rising from the waters into the darkest cave, devoured by the coldest jaws
Like feeling time and space rush furiously past you in a race to the end
Logic escaping all laws
Because laying down is easier than flying
The answer heard in a place where love is the only denying
The Question
Why is heaven and God so far away and hell and the devil so close
Like knowing things are far nearer to home than most
Like feeling the pain of the past creep into the back of your cognizance, forcing your eyes to shut
Like being powerless to assist change, life spent decaying in one single endless rut
Like never experiencing, but knowing the pain of going without
Because having love and not having love still ends in the feeling of a love that's been lost
Once I was asked to fathom how it would feel to drown in your on tears
Although I haven't reached the point drowning I have helped the waters climb over the years
